At Aliya Health Group, we understand that recovery is a lifelong process. Completing a treatment program is an incredible milestone, but staying on the path often requires ongoing support, connection, and guidance. That’s why we created the North Star Alumni Program—a robust network designed to empower individuals in recovery through community, encouragement, and shared experiences.
Whether you’re an alumnus yourself, part of the recovery community, or a family member supporting a loved one, here’s everything you need to know about how the North Star Alumni Program helps sustain recovery and foster meaningful connections.
The North Star Alumni Program is a support system exclusively for individuals who have completed a treatment program with Aliya Health Group. It offers a safe space to stay connected, access resources, and maintain focus on recovery goals. The program is rooted in inclusivity, meaning anyone who has participated in treatment with us is automatically welcomed, regardless of how they left or where they are on their recovery journey.
Membership in the North Star Alumni community extends far beyond treatment. It’s about creating a network where recovery doesn’t end when treatment does—it thrives.
Aliya Health Group’s North Star alumni program is structured to meet you where you are in your recovery. Here’s an overview of our alumni program’s core features:
Our North Star alumni program continues to provide access to our amazing recovery community, even after treatment is complete. It serves as a virtual and in-person support system for our alumni, where they can connect with others who have gone through similar experiences and continue to grow in their recovery journey.
Recovery is a shared experience, and staying connected is key. Alumni can attend weekly support meetings, most of which are held in person, to discuss challenges, celebrate milestones, and draw inspiration from others. These gatherings are a space for open, judgment-free communication.
For those unable to attend in person, certain meetings, such as those in California, are currently hosted over Zoom to offer flexibility.
Recovery should be fun, which is why we organize monthly outings and engaging recovery events that encourage connection and camaraderie. From axe throwing and pottery painting to annual traditions like ugly sweater bowling and sober St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, there’s always something to look forward to.
Certain outgoings, like family weekends and volleyball tournaments, aim to create opportunities for further bonding and enjoyment as you rediscover life in recovery.
Our alumni community gathers for recovery events such as Overdose Awareness Day and Black Balloon Day to honor those lost to overdose and raise awareness about the opioid epidemic. We also celebrate Recovery Month every September with a series of events and activities that promote recovery, reduce stigma, and educate the public about addiction.
These events provide a supportive and empowering environment for alumni and their loved ones to connect, share their experiences, and support they’re sobriety.
Staying motivated in recovery is easier with someone cheering you on. Our Alumni Coordinators provide regular check-ins tailored to important milestones, including 1-week, 1-month, 6-month, and 1-year intervals. These personal calls offer connection, accountability, encouragement, and an opportunity to share triumphs or seek feedback on any challenges.
Each Aliya Health Group location provides access to local resources to help our alumni members thrive. Whether you need help finding local recovery meetings, getting a referral for counseling, or connecting with organizations for assistance with housing, legal, financial, education, vocational, or social services, our alumni coordinators are here to support your recovery.
Giving back is an integral part of recovery. Many of our alumni locations participate in regular community service, such as making sandwiches for the unhoused or collaborating with local charities.
These community-based experiences foster gratitude and a sense of purpose, all while strengthening the bonds within our alumni community.
Hearing real-life recovery stories from others who’ve walked a similar path can be incredibly motivating. Our in-person alumni panels bring together sober alumni to share their journeys with those currently in treatment, offering hope, wisdom, and insight.
If you would like to share your own recovery story, please reach out to your alumni coordinator.
We also provide an exclusive online space for connection, updates, and event details. This private Facebook group brings alumni members together from all walks of life, creating a diverse network of peers who share a common goal of lasting recovery.
