What to Expect at Footprints to Recovery
New Jersey
Treatment Programs
Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
Clients in our partial hospitalization program attend treatment 4 to 6 hours a day, 5 days a week. Programming includes individual therapy sessions, group therapy, experiential approaches, and addiction education. Our PHP program provides structure and support while giving clients the ability to live at home or in a sober living residence.
Intensive Outpatient Treatment (IOP)
Our IOP in New Jersey provides clients with 9 to 15 hours of addiction treatment per week. Clients attend groups and participate in individual therapy. IOP can serve as a step down from an inpatient or PHP program, or it can be a good option for clients who don’t require a higher level of care.
Outpatient Treatment
Clients in our outpatient addiction program attend treatment 3 hours per day, 1 to 2 days per week. This program eases the transition back into everyday life, providing a safe space to talk about real-world triggers and maintain accountability and support in recovery.

New Jersey Leadership

David Szarka, MA, LCADC
Executive Director New Jersey
David has been with Footprints to Recovery since 2016. As Executive Director, he is responsible for all operations at our New Jersey location, including staff, clients, and the overall environment of care. David earned a master’s degree in organizational psychology from Columbia University and a bachelor’s degree in human resource management from Rider University. He is a licensed clinical alcohol and drug counselor (LCADC). David began at Footprints as a primary counselor before transitioning into the executive director role. Prior to joining Footprints, he worked as a primary counselor for New Hope Foundation.
David transitioned from a long career in finance to behavioral health work in 2014. He was drawn to the field after being personally affected by addiction. David says watching clients grow and seeing that “light” back in their eyes is what he finds most fulfilling about his work. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family and dogs, seeing live music, and reading.

Lindsay Hutchison MS, LPC, LCADC
Clinical Director New Jersey
Lindsay brings over 15 years of behavioral health experience to her role at Footprints to Recovery. She has held various positions in the field — from counseling youth in court-mandated residential care and coordinating clinical programming in the K-12 school system, to working with adults with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder and providing outpatient and in-home counseling to clients. Lindsay earned a master’s degree in professional counseling from Monmouth University, holds an LPC and LCADC for the state of New Jersey, and is trained in EMDR, the Nurtured Heart Approach, and Theraplay.
Lindsay heads the clinical program at Footprints to Recovery in New Jersey, helping develop group curriculum, training, and managing staff, providing crisis intervention, and signing off on all clients’ clinical documentation. She plays an integral role in accreditation requirements and ensuring clients’ insurance providers have proper documentation.
Lindsay has always wanted to be a “helper,” and can’t imagine any other career. Her clients inspire her every day as she witnesses them grow, change, and reclaim their lives. Lindsay enjoys painting, exercising, yoga, hiking, and beach time, as well as spending time with family, friends, and her sons, Tristan and Gavin.
“Footprints cares!!! Their family support group has changed my relationship with my daughter in beautiful ways that allow us to support one another without giving up our own sanity. Addiction tears at the fibers of the family. There’s no magic wand, but it’s encouraging to know that my daughter will always have her Footprints people; and I will, too!”
